Thinking about it I wonder whether it is the defining disease of politicians Having once been one at the lowly level of a Unitary Authority Counciller - I have had quite a lot of contact with this variety of the species; and as a former NHS regional officer based in London I have had considerable contact with Members of Parliament. I hasten to add that I don't think I suffer from the disease myself but that is for others to decide.
In the case of Boris one wonders whether his name is the cause - imagine being called Alexander Boris de Pfeffel! This must have been a huge embarrassment to him as a child for which he clearly compensated by his look at me behaviour. Naming of children is a huge responsibility usually taken far too lightly - but that's another story.
Is there a treatment I wonder for an egopath like Boris ?. I advocate a quiet retirement from public life and taking up gardening. He could talk to his flowers as much as he likes and continue to be cranky but harmlessly so. And he could indulge his procreative urge by breeding flowers rather than the other way !
It is a pity that our Head of State does not have the powers to sack him for the good of the country - there could not be a clearer case of the need for such powers and for such action !
