Another division that is becoming more obvious is that between the intelligently informed and the not so well informed, ie the gullible.
I had a very good demonstration of this some years ago when I organised a reunion of the boys who started with me at a grammar school in a far northern town in 1952 when I discovered that of the 30 boys in my class only 4 of us had moved away from our home town and its immediate environs - to London or the surrounding home counties or to Hong Kong in one case.
The factor that united this adventurous quartet was that they were the brightest boys in the class.
So it is no wonder that Brexit happened and that Johnson won an election - it was these less well informed, gullible people who made them happen!!
This is a real problem if we want to move forwards as a nation. There is unfortunately no easy solution. Proportional representation would be an important step in the right direction. Educational reform is also clearly needed too but nothing really important has happened in education since the Butler reforms of 1944 !!
The brighter boys have worked harder and actually looked after themselves instead of sponging off the country!
It has nothing to do with education as it proves it works, as you have stated, there are bright people and thick people who come from the same class.
Brexit - - who wants to be told what to do by a bunch of arrogant hypocrites in Brussels who none of us know - Best out of the EU.
