THE DEATH OF THE QUEEN
Left Field
Sep 10th, 2022
I am a republican at heart but I have to say that watching all the TV coverage about and around her death my admiration of the Queen as a person has grown. If the anglican church had adopted the sacraments of beatification and canonisation the Queen would certainly merit beatification in my opinion in recognition of the good she has done in so many ways and in so many countries.
She has been named the Dutiful Elizabeth which is one true description but I think The Blessed Queen Elizabeth is a more fitting and deserved title which reflects her deep commitment to the teachings of the Christian church.
It also strikes me that inheriting the burden of being the monarch or other member of the inner royal family represents a breech of the human right to choose the direction and mode of their  lives. The fact that so few have chosen to opt out of this burden is truly remarkable.
