Keep in touch

East of England is the first NHS ambulance trust to pilot new technology that delivers ‘unbreakable connectivity’. The ambulance crew in the technology’s field-test will never be offline. 5G connectivity will be the primary connection, falling back to 4G when 5G is not available and then onto satellite connectivity in deep rural locations and areas with no coverage at all.

It is expected that the new technology will: increase the range of point-of-contact diagnostic services and tests that ambulance crews can carry out on-the-spot, without taking patients to hospital; ensure that crews can quickly and easily access clinical information in electronic patient records; enable crews to remain in constant contact with specialists about patients en-route to receiving hospitals; enable crews to locate patients faster in areas where connectivity is compromised. And when there is a delay in handing over patients at A&E the crews can update their Continuing Professional Development records, on-line.

Money matters (1)

The BBC chart says it all. Doctors are amongst the highest earners, and the 2020 cohort earned slightly less than their peers did in 2011.
