NHS digital passport ignores recruitment woes

Jonathan Evans, Country Manager at Digidentity, says:

“The NHS has made huge strides in digitising the system for patients with its new publicly backed ‘patient passports’, meaning every NHS patient will have their health information digitally stored in one place.

“However, while this streamlines the process for the public, it doesn’t address the strain being put on the NHS staff. And there’s one obstacle that isn’t being discussed enough: recruitment delays. These delays are adding extra stress to healthcare staff, affecting their morale, and productivity, and contributing to a high employee turnover.

“Recruitment delays aren't just a drain on productivity and morale either; they're bleeding money from healthcare organisations that could be better invested in service delivery. A staggering £544,000 is being spent per organisation annually on locums and overtime to bridge workforce gaps.

“This is a financial haemorrhage that demands an immediate seal. The cure for this ailment? A swift and comprehensive digital transformation through the use of digital recruitment and identity verification checks. Thankfully, readily available tools, with clear safety measures, do exist. These tools offer relief by introducing smoother and more efficient recruitment processes for employers and employees.”
